Charlie Kirk killing: Tyler Robinson told partner Lance Twiggs he regreted the shooting, video played in court
Prosecution’s interview with Tyler Robinson’s partner Lance Twiggs was played in the courtroom on Thursday.

Lance Twiggs’ interview video with the prosecution was played in the court on Thursday, in which Twiggs said Robinson regreted killing Charlie Kirk. Twiggs says he and Robinson met in 2023, when they became roommates and started dating two to three months later. They shared a friend group and both were gamers. They lived together in a townhouse complex in St. George, Utah.Narrating what happened on the day Charlie Kirk was killed, Twiggs said Robinson left their apartment around 4 or 5 am. He told Twiggs that he, who was working as an electrician, had a long trip to his job site. Twiggs revealed that Tyler Robinson had told him, a few weeks earlier, that he wanted to engrave some bullets for a hunting trip, and had borrowed a tool from Twiggs to do so.After the shooting, Robinson returned to their apartment. He seemed nervous and he was pacing. “He started crying a little bit, and said he wishes he hadn’t done it.” Robinson told Twiggs that he planned to turn himself into authorities, who by that time were frantically hunting the killer and had released surveillance images.

‘Tyler Robinson never mentioned Charlie Kirk before’

Twiggs said he never heard Tyler Robinson speaking about Charlie Kirk until the shooting. Sometimes, Robinson spoke about politics and what he heard on the radio on his way to work.Robinson’s attorneys fought hard on Wednesday to keep the video out of public view. Utah County prosecutors wanted to play the audio of Twiggs’ interview, while defense attorney Richard Novak warned that any release in open court would affect Robinson’s right to a fair trial and could taint a future jury pool.Erika Kirk and Charlie’s Kirk’s parents pleaded with a judge to allow the public to have more access to evidence in the case against Tyler Robinson. In a motion made public on Thursday, a lawyer for Mr. Kirk’s parents and widow, Erika, argued that all exhibits that prosecutors present during a preliminary hearing this week should be shown publicly in the courtroom. After the video, the prosecution unveiled a long string of text messages between Twiggs and Robinson from the night of the shooting. They show that Robinson was lurking near the scene of the shooting in hopes of retrieving his rifle from the bushes where he left it and changed clothes. In that exchange of texts, Robinson apparently told Twiggs that he could not take Charlie Kirk’s hatred anymore and also revealed that he planend the killing for around a week. He continuously apologized for involving Twiggs in all these during their text conversation that day.
