Cucurella and his wife, Claudia Rodriguez, have discussed their experience of bringing up their son Mateo and the struggles he faces with being diagnosed with autism. Mateo is a sufferer of autism, which he was diagnosed with soon after Cucurella joined Chelsea in 2022.
The player himself has talked about how tough it is to bring up children in general and how hard it is not knowing what exactly to do. For him, it is like something which has to be learned to understand. In light of all of the above, the reason for keeping his hair loose is neither symbolic nor coincidental.
