Anshula Kapoor has sparked a wider conversation around body-shaming, vulnerability and the importance of creating supportive online communities after sharing a candid social media reel. The entrepreneur, mental health advocate and body positivity campaigner recently posted a video titled “Men’s comments vs Women’s comments”, drawing attention to the very different responses she received from male and female users. The reel featured a collection of harsh comments from men focusing on Anshula’s appearance and body. In contrast, comments from women were largely supportive, with many users complimenting her and encouraging her to embrace herself. However, Anshula made it clear that she did not want the post to simply become a comparison between men and women. Instead, she chose to focus on what the supportive reactions represented — the sense of community women can create for one another.“The reel says men vs women. But all I really see is the kind of community women can create for each other,” she wrote in the caption.Elaborating on her thoughts, Anshula highlighted how small acts of encouragement between women can have a meaningful impact, especially online, where criticism can often be overwhelming. She wrote, “Women hyping women. Women telling each other ‘you look amazing.’ Women saying ‘I needed to see this today.’ Women making complete strangers feel seen.”For Anshula, the encouragement goes beyond compliments. She believes that when women see others confidently embracing themselves, it can inspire them to feel more comfortable with their own identities and appearances as well.At the same time, Anshula admitted that being vulnerable on social media has not always been easy for her. Opening up about her insecurities has meant making peace with the fact that putting herself out there also invites public scrutiny.“It was never easy for me to put myself out there & be so open about my vulnerabilities and insecurities.” She acknowledged that sharing personal experiences publicly can be daunting because every post leaves room for people to form opinions and pass judgment “Every time I share a part of myself, I’m also giving the world permission to have an opinion on it. And that can still be scary,” she added.Despite those fears, Anshula said the support she has found from women online has given her the confidence to continue being authentic and sharing her experiences. “But knowing that there are so many women in my corner makes it a whole lot easier to keep showing up.”Reflecting on her journey, Anshula said that revealing the aspects of herself she once felt compelled to hide unexpectedly helped her discover a community that made her feel understood and accepted. What began as an attempt to share her own experiences and potentially make someone else feel less alone eventually became a source of comfort for Anshula herself.“I don’t think I realised that somewhere along the way, you would do the same for me ❤️”Anshula recently got married to long-term boyfriend Rohan Thakkar in an intimate ceremony in Mumbai.
