Woman rejects a man after date at a Michelin star restaurant, man’s response brings him under a controversy

A woman’s rejection after an expensive first date has sparked a debate on X. According to the post she shared on her account, the man she had dated asked her to return $1,050 or nearly Rs 1 lakh, which was the cost of their date at the luxurious restaurant. The screenshots were posted by X user Raq (@raqisright), who appears to be the woman involved. She captioned the post as “Chivalry is dead.”

The debate picked up traction when she hared the reason why she had rejected him

She reshared an earlier post where she had described how they spent the evening and how the man had made her feel special, explaining that she wrote, “ Went on a first date last night. He kept it a surprise and called me a black car to the restaurant – a michelin star. He opened the doors and told me to turn my brain off and ordered everything all night. I felt so protected and secured. And then I friend-zoned him because he’s bald and like be so for real rn.”

Social media response

The internet had a mixed response, while some criticised the man for asking for money back after being turned down. Others thought spending so much on a first date was unnecessary. One user wrote, “”But to be honest, a Michelin-star restaurant for a first date was a risky move. Coffee would’ve achieved the same results and cost $20.”Another user supporting the man wrote, “Absolutely warranted. So many women out in the world just want men to have them pay for a lavish lifestyle with no commitment. There are so many great men out in the world who are still single because they are avoiding women who just want to take instead of giving back.” Another group argued that if a man chooses to pay, it shouldn’t automatically become a debt just because the relationship didn’t work out.
