Veteran actor and filmmaker Nana Patekar passed away at the age of 75, during the early hours of 8 th October following a severe cardiac arrest at his home in Dona Paula, Goa.According to an ANI report, he was found unconscious at home and taken to Manipal Hospital, where he was declared dead at 5:20 am.ANI spoke to Dr Shekhar Salkar of Manipal Hospital, who said the actor had become unresponsive at home. According to him, when the hospital’s emergency team reached the house, “they started cardiac massage because he was totally unresponsive”. He further added that doctors kept trying to revive him for around 45 minutes to an hour but could not save him. His body was taken to Goa Medical College for a post-mortem.Nana Patekar will always be remembered as an actor whose voice, stare, and short, sharp dialogue defined some of Indian cinema’s most memorable roles. His work, from Parinda to Krantiveer, covered nearly five decades in Hindi and Marathi films. He was also awarded the Padma Shri in 2013 for playing the good-hearted gangster Uday Shetty in Welcome and also held the rank of honorary lieutenant colonel in the Indian Army.
