A video of a woman allegedly abusing and threatening security guards at a Greater Noida housing society has exploded across social media, triggering a heated debate over how guards and other workers are treated inside gated communities.Police say the 45-year-old woman, identified as Yesha Kumar, was drunk during the incident. She was arrested on Thursday morning, according to officials from Bisrakh police station.The confrontation reportedly began after a food delivery worker arrived at Amrapali Centurian Park Terrace Homes in Greater Noida West. Security guards stopped him from entering because he didn’t have permission to go inside.Police said Kumar then came to the gate and confronted the guards.A video of the confrontation shows her repeatedly shouting at the security personnel, using abusive and casteist language and making threats. At one point, she is heard saying, “Maar dungi tujhe jaan se,” while another part of the clip shows her apparently trying to kick a guard who is sitting on a plastic chair.She is also heard telling the guards that she would make them clean her shoes and questioning their “aukat.”The video quickly spread through social media platforms and WhatsApp groups, drawing anger from residents and others who said the incident reflected a much wider problem in gated societies.Devendra Tiger, president of the Federation of Resident Welfare Associations of Greater Noida, called the incident “deeply saddening,” saying security guards are among the people who work to keep these communities running and safe.And some security guards say the problem goes far beyond one viral video.Mahesh Singh, a guard working in Sector 150, Noida, said guards in some societies face delayed salaries, verbal abuse and even physical attacks.“Here, we can see how badly the woman is abusing the guard simply because he was doing his job,” he said according to a report in The Print.The controversy took another turn when Kumar spoke to The Indian Express and said she had “no regrets” and was “not sorry” about her behaviour.She described the incident as a “bad dream” she wanted to forget and said she lived alone in the society. Kumar also claimed she was being targeted because people “don’t like a bold woman.”Meanwhile, a security supervisor at the society filed a police complaint on Friday.The incident has since become part of a larger argument about the treatment of guards, delivery workers and domestic staff in high-rise communities across the NCR.For many people watching the video, the uncomfortable question isn’t just what happened at one society gate. It’s why the people hired to keep these places secure are so often treated as though they don’t deserve basic respect.
