Indian-origin tech leader Sheetal (Shital) Wrzesien was shot dead by her husband in her house in Georgia.

A scary scene unfolded at a Laurel Creek Trail neighborhood in Georgia earlier this week when a 23-year-old man ran from one neighbor to another to seek help as his father shot him, and his mother was lying dead inside the house. The woman who was killed was an Indian-origin tech leader Shital (Sheetal) Wrzesien who did not survive the wounds.The incident took place just before 8pm. According to the Cobb County Police Department, they took 56-year-old Kirk B Wrzesien, the husband of the woman and the father of the 23-year-old Jason, from the crime scene without any incident. Investigators confirmed that this was a domestic violence incident and there was no threat to the public.Kirk was charged with felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was currently being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.A neighbor said they saw the wounded son run from the house after being shot in the back and first tried to get help at one nearby home but was unable to get inside. He then ran to a second neighbor’s house, where the owners let him in and helped stop the bleeding until first responders arrived. The neighbor said the son arrived at the home just before 8 pm and found his parents fighting.

Who was Shital (Sheetal) Wrzesien?

An alumna of Georgia Tech, Sheetal Wrzesien was an engineering leader at Google with over 20 years of experience in varied tech roles, within organizations big and small.According to her bio on the Georgia Tech website, Sheetal grew up in England, India, and Ghana (West Africa). She moved to the United States to pursue a degree in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Sheetal was a named inventor on two software patents, served on the Advisory Board of the Georgia Tech College of Computing and was a member of the Board of Trustees for the Georgia Tech Alumni Association.
