A pilot was killed after a small aircraft crashed near Space Coast Regional Airport in Titusville, Florida, on Monday morning, Florida Today reported.The plane was identified by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) as a Mooney M20F, a four-seat propeller aircraft. The agency is investigating the crash.The aircraft came down on a road near the airport at around 10 a.m. local time, according to police. Footage from the scene showed the plane engulfed in flames, while authorities closed the road in both directions.The Titusville Police Department said electricity was cut to nearby areas as a precaution by Florida Power and Light following the crash.Titusville is about 40 miles east of Orlando on Florida’s Atlantic coast.The circumstances that led to the crash were not immediately known. Investigators from the NTSB are expected to examine the wreckage as part of the investigation.The crash occurred less than 24 hours after an Amazon cargo aircraft overshot the runway at Miami International Airport. Five people were killed and five others seriously injured after the Boeing 767-300 crossed a road beyond the runway and struck several vehicles.
