The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced a massive recall of approximately 167,639 pounds of raw pork, beef and goat products that, according to officials, were produced without federal inspection. These products also carried false USDA inspection marks on their labels.The recall involves products from Star Meat Delivery Inc., based in Lucama, North Carolina, and shipped by A&D Foods, a distributor in Georgia. In the announcement shared on Tuesday (September 22), the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said the meat products were shipped to retailers and restaurants nationwide.“Any product bearing the false establishment number ‘EST. 1363’ should be considered misbranded and unsafe to eat,” FSIS said. Food produced without inspection may contain “undeclared allergens, harmful bacteria, or other contaminants that put consumer health and safety at risk”.
The agency said it is concerned that some of the recalled products may be in the refrigerators or freezers of consumers, restaurants or retailers. People who have bought the recalled products are urged not to eat them. Retailers and restaurants are also urged not to sell or serve these recalled products. “These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase,” the agency said. The agency discovered the problem during its surveillance activities.
How to identify the recalled products
Look for the establishment number ‘EST. 1363’, which was placed on the label despite the products being produced without federal inspection. According to FSIS, these recalled products, including raw pork, beef and goat items, were produced on various dates prior to September 22, 2026. They were vacuum-sealed and packed into cardboard boxes for shipment; individual consumer packages may not bear this labelling, as retail stores may have applied their own stickers with pricing and safe-handling instructions.The recalled products were sold in bulk under the A&D Foods label and include:
