Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla has once again touched hearts back home, this time by sharing a ‘glimpse of faith’ from among the stars. To mark Ganesh Chaturthi, Shukla posted a video on his social media handle showing a tiny idol of Lord Ganesha, which he carried with him earlier as well aboard the International Space Station.He shared the heartfelt clip from his 2025 mission, during which he made history in 2025 as the first Indian to travel to the ISS as part of the Axiom Mission 4.

Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla scripted history in 2025 when he became the first Indian to travel to the International Space Station, flying as part of the Axiom Mission 4. The mission made him no less than a celebrity back home, with millions following his updates from orbit. Now, more than a year later, Shukla shared a video from that very mission to mark Ganesh Chaturthi, and it is already winning hearts online.The clip shows Shukla floating inside the ISS along with a small Lord Ganesha idol, which drifts gently in zero gravity beside him. In the video, Shukla can be heard saying, “Dekhiye Ganpati kaise shaanti se float kar rahe hai,” or “ how peacefully Ganpati appears to be floating in microgravity.”Shukla explained in the video how much this particular idol means to him. He revealed that it has been by his side for 20 years and has been a constant source of strength through the many ups and downs of his life and career, which is why he made sure to take it along on his journey to space, according to the report.Sharing the video on X, he accompanied it with a long caption and wished followers, “This video is a small reflection of that faith. Happy Ganesh Chaturthi to all.”
Not the first time, Shukla gave a glimpse into his life aboard ISS
This is not the first time Shukla has offered fans a peek into daily life aboard the ISS. Just some time earlier, he had shared how his crewmates managed to get a cake aboard the station using nothing more than bread, condensed milk, dry fruits and jam.Following his pattern, Shukla still regularly shares moments from his time on the mission with his large online following.
