A lift in a Ghaziabad housing society was being used like any other lift until residents started complaining about a foul smell.When the CCTV footage was checked, they reportedly found the reason. A man was allegedly seen urinating inside the elevator.The video has now surfaced on social media and is drawing strong reactions from people online. The incident reportedly took place at Shipra Krishna Vista Society in Indirapuram’s Ahimsa Khand-1.
Residents noticed a foul smell
The incident reportedly came to light after residents noticed that something was wrong with the lift. There was a strong smell, and complaints were made to the apartment owners’ association (AOA) and the maintenance team.The CCTV camera inside the elevator eventually provided an explanation.In the footage, a young man can allegedly be seen urinating towards the lift’s control panel while the elevator is moving. He appears to continue even when the lift doors open at one point.Another person is seen approaching the elevator. But after apparently noticing what is happening inside, the person backs away rather than getting in.The man then continues his ride and eventually walks out of the lift.

Once the footage started doing the rounds online, people were quick to react.For residents, the bigger issue is the fact that this wasn’t a private space. The lift is used every day by families, children, elderly residents, domestic workers and visitors.And because it’s an enclosed space, the incident also raised obvious hygiene concerns. The floor and areas around the control panel would need to be thoroughly cleaned after something like this.Some users took the incident less seriously, responding with jokes and sarcastic comments about whether lifts would now need to come with their own unusual facilities.
