Tamil cinema has lost actor Karthik Sabesh at the age of 37, bringing fresh grief to a family known for its contributions to the film industry. The actor, who appeared in several Tamil films, died following health issues, according to reports. His death comes just days after the passing of veteran music composer Deva, his uncle, on October 17, 2026. The family had also lost Karthik’s father, music composer MC Sabesan, in October 2025. The back-to-back losses have left their relatives and well-wishers mourning another untimely death.
Karthik Sabesh ’s early life and film career
Karthik Sabesh was an Indian actor who made his film debut with ‘Dreams’ alongside Dhanush in 2004. Being the son of music composer M. C. Sabesan, also popular as Sabesh, he ventured into the Tamil movie industry and made appearances in supporting roles in various films. His appearances have been in movies including ‘Dham,’ ‘Kadhal Solla Vandhen,’ ‘Kulir 100 Degree,’ ‘Vallavan,’ ‘Pattathu Yaanai,’ ‘Udhayam NH4,’ and ‘Burma.‘ He has also made appearances in the Telugu movie ‘Thakita Thakita’ (2010).Although he did not have a long list of lead roles, his appearances in these films made him a familiar face to some Tamil cinema audiences. According to The Hindu, Karthik Sabesh died due to health-related complications. He was 37 at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, Ramya Karthik, and their two daughters, Prishanithara and Hairanithara. His sisters, Geetha Sabesh and Archana Sabesh, are also among the family members grieving his loss. Reports said his last rites were scheduled to take place at the Valasaravakkam crematorium in Chennai at around 4.30 pm on October 20. His sudden demise has prompted condolences from people associated with the Tamil film industry.
